Via Zoom

Hey, party people, and I think you know who you are, once again it’s IWOSC Holiday Party time! Join us via, Zoom (now that’s a big surprise) for an appreciation of our community of writers and publishers.

We always have a nice, warm, fuzzy winter fest. This year, we can utilize the better features of Zoom to enjoy the warmth of the season by actually seeing each of our faces together.

We’ll have games, a few surprises, and maybe answer a question or two about writing or publishing.

Among those surprises, we will randomly give the following premiums:

  • One free IWOSC seminar ($15 value for members).
  • Desiree Duffey is offering A Black Château stocking stuffed with a BookFest hat, Books That Make You mug, and fuzzy socks ($30 value).
  • Robin Quinn is offering one free 1-page press release—Can be for an event or a book or whatever else fits, based on 15 minute interview by writing coach Robin Quinn (www.writingandediting.biz). $150 value.
  • One free one-year membership in the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights.
  • Kathleen Kaiser is offering our members a 20 % discount on a WPN membership.

Zoom parties can be weird. So, as Plato said to his followers, let’s be weird together–Wednesday, December 15, at  6:30pm Pacific.

This year the party is FREE.

However, if you are so moved, and we do NOT want to guilt you into anything, any donation to IWOSC would be appreciated.  The pandemic has widened our footprint internationally. Our opportunities are expanding, and we would like to be able to support those who need help. A donation is completely optional. We are here for you regardless. If you want to give, please use Payiwosc (at) iwosc.org to use our PayPal for any amount that you choose.

So, bring your funkiest virtual background, your happy face, and perhaps a trivia question or two relating to writing or publishing in the broadest sense. And if you have any GOOD news, we’d love to acknowledge your accomplishments, so let us know about them. Bring your holiday cheer, but no food on camera, please. BYOB! As Shakespeare once said, “Watching people eat food on camera is way yucky, dude!” (I may be paraphrasing).

• And here is a silly party ideaa writer’s prompt for you.  In 300 words or so, write a holiday letter like one that would be sent out to family, written as if you had no filter, delicately  crossing the line of appropriateness for a holiday letter.  We will read a random few of these, written before the party.  We will have one finger on the mute button, just in case.  Please keep it humorous, family or friends-oriented, and no politics, religion or anti–anything. Please send your letter to me at gary.young (at) iwosc.org, with the heading LETTER.  I will notify you ahead if your letter has been randomly chosen.

See you there!
