Event Description
Join us for our October Westside Satellite as we feature the talented author Jeri Westerson, a veteran writer renowned for her historical mysteries, notably the Crispin Guest Medieval Noir series, which she completed with 15 titles in 2022. Jeri is working on two exciting new series: the Tudor-era King’s Fool Mysteries and the Sherlockian pastiche Irregular Detective Mysteries. During this engaging session, Jeri will present brief readings from her two latest books, The Twilight Queen and The Mummy of Mayfair.
Following the readings, host Robin Quinn will engage Jeri in a conversation covering a range of topics, including:
- The craft of mystery writing
- Insights into writing historical mysteries
- Effective sources for research
- Tips on successful book marketing strategies
- Building and nurturing a lasting writing career
With her signature wit and sense of humor, Jeri is sure to entertain and inform throughout the interview. There will be breaks for audience questions, allowing for interactive participation. To wrap up the morning, we will provide a writing prompt and an opportunity for attendees to share their work—sharing is encouraged but entirely voluntary.
About Jeri Westerson
Guest Jeri Westerson was born and raised in Los Angeles. Her first mystery series, the Crispin Guest Medieval Noir series, was nominated for thirteen national awards, from the Agatha to the Macavity to the Shamus. In 2023, she became the author of the critically acclaimed King’s Fool Mysteries, with Will Somers, Henry VIII’s real court jester, as the reluctant sleuth. The second and latest title of the series, The Twilight Queen, draws Will into another investigation when a body is discovered in Queen Ann Boleyn’s chambers. The second title of the Sherlockian Irregular Detective Mystery series, The Mummy of Mayfair, races out of the gate with a shocking discovery at a mummy unwrapping party guarded by detectives Timothy Badger and Ben Watson, his partner. Jeri has served two terms as president of the Southern California Chapter of Mystery Writers of America, president of the Orange County Chapter of Sisters in Crime, and vice president of the LA chapter of Sisters in Crime. She is a founding member of the Los Angeles chapter of the Historical Novel Society. Jeri is currently touring to promote her books.

Host, WPN/IWOSC Westside Satellite, Robin Quinn is a new Director at Large of the Writers & Publishers Network (WPN), and an LA book coach, editor, ghostwriter, and copywriter for over 25 years. Robin’s editorial projects include the just-released title Notes from a Spirit Baby Medium by Kelly Meehan, the February 2024 guide Enlivening Consciousness by alternative eye doctor Elisa Beth Haransky-Beck, OD, the uplifting debut novel Shelby’s Vacation by playwright Nancy Beverly, and the award-winning, best-selling collection, Legends of the Grail: Stories of Celtic Goddesses by Ayn Cates Sullivan. In December 2020, she won an Irwin Award for the Best Media Kit. Robin often hosts and moderates author programs for various groups around Los Angeles.
